    Pip Tompkin was born in Nottingham, England. He graduated top of his year with 1st class honors majoring in Industrial Design from Northumbria University in Newcastle. He then attended the prestigious The Royal College of Art in London and gained a Masters of Industrial Design with a special examiners distinction. After graduating, he worked with both architecture and design companies in England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, China, Korea and The Netherlands, before moving to the United States in 2001.

    From 2001 -2005 he worked as a consultant to Dell, helping develop iconic and successful products for the gaming, education, consumer and enterprise markets. In 2005, he relocated to Los Angeles, accepting a Senior Design position at Nokia with a focus in developing phones for North American, European and Asian markets. During Pip’s three years at Nokia, his designs and thinking significantly increase sales of key products by millions, exceeding sales expectations. Pip also served on a board to create and align design strategies for Nokia’s Global portfolio.

    In December of 2008, Pip announced the launch of his design studio. Pip Tompkin’s philosophy, Assume Nothing together with his Big Think Big idea methodology, has helped develop award winning products and brands for numerous businesses; start-up and large corporations around the world. He actively promotes design education and his work has appeared in many publications.

    SoundStation Connect sets a new standard for UC conferencing performance and convenience in an elegant, easy to use package. SoundStation Connect is a USB-based audio conference solution for small to midsize rooms that provides superior acoustic performance in group settings. The Soundsation Connect is portable, responding to a change in the way modern business is conducted. The Soundstation Connect was part of the ‘Art of Communication’ design language developed by Pip Tompkin Studio together with Polycom. The ‘Art of Communication’ design language recognizes there is more to a conversation than just being connected. Polycom with its superior product technology allows people to feel closer and stay engaged longer.     The Nokia 2228 is an entry level camera phone initially designed for Indonesia and China. Projected sales for the 2228 were eight hundred thousand units. Pip Tompkin recognized a trend in Asia to customize phones by hanging charms from the small lanyard feature, common on these devices. An entire industry was developing around this trend creating thousands of different types of charms. Pip Tompkin, looking to expand the Nokia 2228′s market share design a phone from the charm up.
