More about James Mok:
James is a graphic design dropout who ended up in advertising.
He managed to talk his way into art direction at McCann followed by the same role at Y&R, indie agency HKM (before indies became fashionable), Clemenger BBDO in Australia and back in New Zealand with Saatchi & Saatchi.
In a moment of madness James ventured into his own start-up agency, Generator, with three ex-Saatchi partners in 1995. Much to everyone’s surprise, it went well. Well enough to be bought by George Patterson Bates six years later.
Since 2005 James has been ECD of FCB New Zealand, helping it grow to become the country’s third largest agency, being awarded at Cannes, One Show, Clio, ANDYs, Spikes, AWARD, Caples and EFFIEs along the way. For his sins, James also became the FCB Asia Pacific ECD in 2012.
