Will we be immortal in the future? from Designit on Vimeo.
Designit was founded in Denmark in 1991 by David Fellah and two fellow industrial designers with a common vision: to deliver new solutions to old problems, and to help businesses rethink, transform and improve the way they create business value. Designit specializes in translating user needs into compelling products, services and experiences. Now Europe’s largest strategic design and innovation company, Designit has 12 studios in nine countries across Europe, Brazil, China and Israel, and a long list of design awards to its credit.
Facing a steep revenue drop and weak value proposition, Harman International Industries invited Designit to re-wire their thinking. Over 18 months, Designit established The Harman Design Centre – a multidisciplinary design studio, embedded within the audio company’s base in Shenzhen, China. The Harman Design Centre has since won 61 design and innovation awards, and boosted Harman’s share values by 111%.
Through a continuous process of co-creation, 25 products were developed in 50 weeks. More than 50 products have been developed throughout the 18 months Designit spent with Harman. The JBL Flip became Harman’s first product to sell over one million units, while The JBL Portable Range went on to sell over 5 million units.
Wilfa, one of Scandinavia’s largest producers of home electrical goods, wanted to create a series of coffee machines that would give users complete control and allow them to brew a perfect cup of coffee. The result has been SVART Presisjon and SVART Manuell, both award-winning coffee brewers.
