Stuart Macey started his career in the auto industry as a body engineer with British Layland (more widely known as Rover) after studying Marine Structures Fabrication and Engineering at Highbury Technical College in United Kingdom. He than transitioned into the design studio environment at IAD (International Automotive Design) in UK as a car body engineer and designer. Next, he joined Chrysler Design Office as a Senior Studio Engineer and over 18 years worked both in Detroit and Pacifica, California at Chrysler’s Advanced Design Studio. Currently, he’s a Senior Studio Engineer at Hyundai Design America in Irvine, California as well as faculty at Art Center College of Design. He specializes in advanced vehicle architecture design and development.
Stuart is also the author of H Point: The Fundamentals of Car Design and Packaging published by Design Studio Press. The book is a guide to the fundamentals of vehicle packaging and the role it plays in the design process. The book was primarily written for design students, but it may also provide useful information to designers and engineers whose career has been confined to working with specific systems or vehicle types.
